Saturday, March 9th: Seachtain na Gaeilge

Our Seachtain na Gaeilge will begin on Saturday March 9th at St. Gregory's Hall, 2223 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA at 10:30 AM with an Irish Language film produced by Seán Ó Cualáin of Kilkerrin, Connemara. This will be followed by a Q&A, lunch, unveiling of trophies honoring two wonderful sean-nós singers, readings by Jackie Mac Donncha and Michael Quinn, and a singing contest and session. Download the registration form here.

The week will conclude on Saturday March 16th at the S.M.A. House, 337 Common St. Dedham, MA at 10:00 AM with a Mass to be followed immediately by breakfast. We will have the pleasure of listening to four harpists and hearing both Irish and English language explanations of the poem Seanchas na Sceiche, written by Raftery. Download the registration form here.

Sunday, October 27th: Lá Gaeilge

We will be holding a special Lá Gaeilge at Florian Hall, 55 Haller St, Dorchester MA 02122 at 11:00 AM. The day will include a talk by author Jackie Mac Donncha, a rpesentation of the film Anseo i Lár an Ghleanna by Seán Ó Cualáin, and sean nós singing contest. Tickets are $20.00, available at the door.

          • We are pleases that Award-wining Irish writer Jackie Mac Donncha from Connemara, Galway will be joining us. Jackie will give a tqalk about the Irish language in Ireland and where it stands today. After a short question and answer period, Jackie will conclude his talk with a reading of some of his work.
          • We will also be presenting the Irish language film, Anseo i Lár an Ghleanna directed by Seán Ó Cualáin, which tells the story of the williage of Loc Con Aortha in West Connemara.
          • There will be an Irish sean nós singing contest with trophies awarded in memory of Mrs. Concannon and Joe John Mac An Iomaire, a traditional Irish music session with Pat Walsh agus a Chairde, and refreshments will be served.
